Right, Beckett is a Drum n Bass head, hailing from dundalk, where he currently resides but is planning on heading to belfast come autumn, and he spent a bit of time up north in coleraine. He's been mixing now for over a year and a half, and was a resident in a night up in portstewart for a while, as well as playing at parties and a couple of support slots in dundalk for belfast drum n bass outfit Solaris.When he's not up to his eyeballs at work or with his girlfriend lorna, he spends some of his time running ireland drum and bass website www.irishdrumandbass.com where he has reviewed hundreds of tunes, interviewed many of the luminaries of drum and bass and written quite a few nifty features as well.
Philosophy on DJ'ing: "I try not to restrict myself to one particular style of Drum n Bass, or indeed to just Drum and Bass, you can learn so much more by experimenting with other styles, different styles require different techniques for mixing, but you can incorporate one style into another to come up with unique ways of mixing. This holds true for different styles of music, get into hip-hop and you get into scrathcing and that's something you can take with you over to your given style of music, the same goes for house or techno, there's certain things you'd do with house you wouldn't think of doing with Drum and Bass, but by simply exposing yourself to it, you start to try it.......but hey who am I to be preaching about it, everyone's got there own style......mines jsut phucked up."
